Over the last twenty years, a
record number of children have been diagnosed
with a variety of specific learning
disabilities. The number of students
entering public education who need expensive
specialized services has never been greater.
This is occurring at a time when adequate
funding of public schools has never been more at
risk. New Vistas School has an answer to this
increasing problem.
New Vistas is the only school of
its kind in Central Virginia dedicated to
providing an individualized instructional
program for students with learning and attention
difficulties, kindergarten through grade twelve.
Currently we are serving 55 students. The
Virginia Department of Education determined the
maximum number of students we can enroll is 58. These students reside in both the City of
Lynchburg as well as the surrounding counties of
Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford, Campbell and
Rockbridge.
For small independent schools
like New Vistas, each year brings a variety of
fiscal challenges. This year is especially true,
as many businesses and non-profits in our area
face an uncertain economy. With no state or
federal funding we rely on the generous support
of individuals, corporations, and private
foundations to provide approximately 30% of our
annual operating budget.
Please help us to continue to
offer this valuable educational experience for
the children in our community by making a gift
to New Vistas School today! For ways to give
